MFAc is a graduate program designed to engage international students to enhance corporate governance quality including accountability and risk management. The Master of Financial Accountability Internship Advisory Board (MIAB) was established as not-for-profit organization to facilitate MFAc students’ success by enabling co-ops, internships, and graduate jobs.

MIAB compliments the FACC 6850 practicum course that,  among other things, provides students with opportunities to apply their knowledge and undertake financial accountability related work.

Gaining Canadian work experience through internships or part-time jobs assists students in securing future employment opportunities when graduating.

What do I need for an internship?

You will need to be eligible to work full-time in Canada or possess a co-op work permit. Contact miabstud@yorku.ca and join the PreCourse which will help you find an internship and enroll in FACC6850. You will need to obtain an internship before you can enroll in the FACC 6850 practicum course. This will count as a 6-credit course. The course is flexible, that is, students can join any time they want.

How to find an internship?

MIAB is working on establishing partnerships with various organizations to provide co-op opportunities (paid or unpaid internship) and facilitating employment opportunities after graduating to our students! Students interested in finding an internship can also find internship job postings from the Career Center and online sources such as Indeed, LinkedIn.

Where can I find information about Internship job opportunities?

MIAB scans the Career Centre and LinkedIn websites and posts them weekly. We also post specific vacancies that our professors, students and alumni tell us about. Please check the MIAB job postings website.

What other help can I get from MIAB?

MIAB has a mentoring program. Please see the MIAB mentoring webpages.

MIAB also has a Career Skills program. Please see our Career Skills pages.

MIAB also offers a program where you can start with a MIAB internship and then use your MIAB experience to apply for other internships.

What are MIAB Internships?

If you encounter difficulty finding a job, don’t worry! Here is a great opportunity available for all of you! Apply for an internship with MIAB to gain experience.  Working with MIAB will bring you more awareness of the program and interaction with fellow students and/or employers. MIAB interns are involved in bringing more job offers to our fellow students!

MIAB is also constantly working on various projects that would require more helping hands. MIAB has the possibility of offering a flexible unpaid internship to students who would be interested. Students are also welcome to volunteer. This will help students end up with a decent amount of working experiences and it is a great addition on the resume.

What to expect from the MIAB internship?

During the internship, you will be able to demonstrate your talent and skills by working in one of the sub-committees of MIAB. Students will have the opportunity to be exposed and work with different stakeholders while challenging themselves.
