We invited many experts from various professional industries to share their working experiences with our MFAc students in the Career Skills Session.
Sameen Sattar
Manager at TD Bank Group
Sameen is a seasoned finance and accounting professional with more than a decade of experience in financial, management and regulatory reporting. He has driven process re-engineering and change management extensively within the finance space. His collaborative leadership has been effective in team building and stakeholder management.
Sameen started his career in Canada with RBC Capital Markets as Manager, Performance Management under the Wholesale Finance Team. He also worked for Dhaka Bank in Bangladesh over 10 years progressing up to Senior Manager, Reporting. In his current role as Manager, Enterprise Project Finance at TD, he works as the Financial Controller to the Business Banking Portfolio.
Sameen is an MFAc alumni and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom. He also holds an MBA from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University. He is a bookworm, quote collector, chess enthusiast and likes to play the guitar.
Binu Mathai
Associate Vice President at TD Bank Group
Binu held roles in the professional services, investment management and consumer packaged goods industries. He has a wide range of experience spanning external auditing, internal auditing, taxation, investor relations, business valuations, financial planning & analysis, business case development, expense governance, and policy creation & management.
Binu holds a Master of Accounting and is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). He has taught and created finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Lastly, he made a great contribution in Career Skills Sessions for our MIAB.
Sherif Eltramsy
Relevant Professional Designations and Job-Hunting Skills
Sherif has a degree in Accounting and a Master degree in Business Administration also has over 15 years of experience in internal auditing, corporate governance, risk management, compliance, information security and privacy at different business industries withholding the top-in-class professional Internal Audit and IT Risk designations.
He is currently working as an Internal Audit professional at a public organization also he is a career mentor for a diversified group of mentees who have different educational and cultural backgrounds and include both experienced and fresh graduates.
Teresa Wang
Teresa is a senior financial risk and governance professional with over 10 years of experience in financial reporting, internal and external audit, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, and ICFR (Internal Controls over Financial Reporting) control implementation. She is an effective manager skilled at building collaborative partnerships and facilitating groups.
Teresa’s previous experience includes roles as Senior Associate at Deloitte’s public company assurance group and Internal Audit Manager at Liberty. In her current role as the Senior Manager, Transformation at Liberty, she is leading the ICFR control integration work stream of an enterprise-wide SAP system implementation project.
Teresa is a Chartered Accountant and a Certified Information System Auditor. She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a double major in Accounting and Management Information System from the University of British Columbia.
Zahid Islam, MBA, MFAc, M. Comm (Accounting)
Senior Manager & Team Leader at CIBC Commercial Banking
Zahid is part of an energetic and enthusiastic CIBC Commercial Banking team in Prince George, B.C. As a globally trained Commercial banker, he has worked with multinational banks in several different countries. His strong financial analysis skills have helped his clients mitigate risk, reduce expenses, provide solutions to their financial needs, and increase profit. In the past, Zahid has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the Canadian and international banks he has worked for. His candid and down-to-earth nature makes him an easily approachable person to explore his insights into business and your potential career path.
Zahid graduated from the MFAc program in 2012 while he has already accomplished two other Master's degrees, MBA and M. Comm (Accounting) from Asia. These Master's Degrees equipped him to face any professional challenges. Coupled with these, his 20 years of Commercial Banking experience as a Relationship Manager and Senior Relationship Manager has enriched his experience.

A man of perseverance and patience, he owes it all to his caring family. After gaining a wealth of experience in many different countries, he and his young family are living in Prince George BC for the last ten years.
